IMCD, a global distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients, has signed an agreement to acquire 100% ownership of the Blumos Group, which includes Importadora y Distribuidora Blumos SpA, Transportes Blumos SpA, and Comercial e Industrial Solutec SpA in Chile; Sonutra Blumos SAC in Peru; and Blumos S.A. in Argentina. The acquisition will strengthen IMCD’s presence in Latin America’s life science markets.
Founded in 1945 and headquartered in Santiago, Chile, Blumos Group operates across Chile, Peru, and Argentina. It distributes a diverse range of specialty ingredients and chemicals for the food, pharmaceutical, and industrial sectors throughout Latin America. With a strong portfolio from leading global suppliers, Blumos also provides extensive formulation expertise, supported by multiple application laboratories. Around 160 Blumos employees will join the IMCD team.

The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2024, pending regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
