Lawson opts for BENEBiOL, a Biomass Polycarbonatediol, at New Aomori Store.

Mitsubishi Chemical Group (MCG Group) proudly announces the selection of BENEBiOL™, a biomass-derived polycarbonatediol, for the interior finish coating of Lawson Aomori Chiyuuou Koukou-Mae, inaugurated on April 11, 2024, in Aomori City, Japan. This marks the second Lawson store to utilize paint formulated with BENEBiOL™, following the Lawson Obihiro Nishi 21-Jo Minami 4-chome Store.

In alignment with efforts to reduce CO2 emissions and foster local prosperity, the newly opened store integrates Aomori Prefecture timber for its interior walls, ceilings, and eaves. This locally sourced timber receives a finishing touch with topcoat paint containing BENEBiOL™, enhancing the wood materials with a unique softness and warmth.

BENEBiOL™ represents a significant innovation in biomass-based polycarbonate diol developed by the MCG Group, primarily employed as a core ingredient in polyurethane resins. Driven by our commitment to pioneering products of unparalleled quality, we’ve crafted a polycarbonate diol with an entirely novel chemical composition sourced from biomass materials. Notably, BENEBiOL™ boasts a biomass content of up to 93% alongside exceptional durability and chemical resistance, finding application in paints, coatings, synthetic and artificial leather, as well as outdoor equipment.

The MCG Group envisions further advancement of BENEBiOL™ for use in wooden structures, thereby fostering decarbonization within the paint and construction sectors.
