Granite (NYSE:GVA) is advancing its Southeast home market strategy through strategic projects and recent acquisitions of Lehman-Roberts, Memphis Stone & Gravel (MSG), and Dickerson & Bowen Inc. (D&B). This expansion supports Granite’s growing construction portfolio and strengthens its asphalt and aggregate materials offerings. “These projects not only bolster our construction backlog but also enhance our materials business, reflecting our commitment to top-quality service and infrastructure improvement for our communities,” said Patrick Nelson, Granite Vice President of Regional Operations.
The following projects showcase Granite’s versatility in the Southeast construction and materials industry:
- Olive Branch Airport Taxiway Rehabilitation, Mississippi: Awarded to Lehman-Roberts, this project involves restoring a portion of the airport’s taxiway with 2,750 tons of hot mix asphalt (HMA). Completion is expected by August 2025.
- MDOT Tunica County, US 61 Improvement: Starting in September 2024, Lehman-Roberts began scrub sealing and overlaying approximately 10 miles of US 61. The project, expected to complete by July 2025, will use 34,000 tons of HMA from Lehman-Roberts, with MSG providing 20,000 tons of shoulder gravel.
- MDOT Claiborne County, SR 547 Overlay: D&B will overlay 19 miles of SR 547 from the Copiah County line to US 61, producing approximately 22,500 tons of HMA and 1,800 tons of granular material from its Brookhaven plant. Work is set to start in October 2024 and complete by October 2025.
