Furno Materials Doubles ASTM Cement Standard, Marking Milestone in Sustainable Low-Carbon Cement Production

Furno Materials, a leader in sustainable cement production, has achieved a major milestone: its cement has met ASTM C150 certification, the standard for Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC), while delivering twice the strength required by ASTM standards. This achievement combines the durability and consistency of traditional OPC with enhanced sustainability, establishing Furno as a transformative force in the cement industry.

For over two decades, alternative cement options have attempted to reduce carbon emissions but faced adoption challenges due to complex supply chains, slower curing times, and industry reluctance. In contrast, Furno offers a seamless transition by producing an ASTM-certified OPC product with superior performance, using a fraction of the carbon footprint. “Our ASTM results demonstrate that our cement not only exceeds industry standards but does so with significantly reduced emissions,” said Gurinder Nagra, CEO of Furno Materials.

Furno’s solution includes standardized, modular plants that cut production costs and allow rapid deployment within 12 months. By using a gas-based combustion system, Furno slashes heating emissions by 70%, while substituting calcium-rich waste for limestone, reducing CO2 emissions further. “Furno’s cement aligns perfectly with our sustainability goals,” said Marty Ozinga, CEO of Ozinga. “It offers the performance our projects demand while helping us meet carbon-neutral concrete targets.”

With these advancements, Furno is set for widespread adoption in the industry. “Meeting ASTM standards is just our starting point,” Nagra added. “We deliver traditional OPC performance with vastly lower emissions, making it easy for concrete companies to adopt sustainable practices without sacrificing quality or reliability.”
