Tronox Releases 2022 Sustainability Report

Tronox Holdings plc (NYSE:TROX) (“Tronox” or the “Company”), the world’s leading integrated manufacturer of titanium dioxide pigment, has released its 2022 sustainability report. This report highlights the company’s significant strides in sustainability and environmental protection over the past year. Key initiatives and achievements include:

  • Carbon Emission Reduction: Tronox reinforced its Scope 1 and 2 carbon emission reduction targets, aiming for a 35% reduction by 2025 and a 50% reduction by 2030, based on a 2019 baseline.
  • Decarbonization Roadmaps: The company developed regional decarbonization roadmaps essential for achieving its goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
  • Scope 3 Emissions: Targets were set to decrease Scope 3 emissions intensity by 9% by 2025 and 16% by 2030, against a 2021 baseline.
  • Waste Reduction: Tronox reduced waste to external landfills by 10% from the 2019 baseline, on track to meet its 2025 and 2030 reduction targets of 15% and 25%, respectively.
  • Safety Improvements: A leading safety indicator program was launched, resulting in over 2,500 unique improvements across various sites.
  • Empowering Women Leaders: The company introduced a new Women in Leadership program to promote gender balance in leadership roles.
  • Community Partnerships: Several Local Economic Development Projects were completed in South Africa, and the company collaborated closely with Indigenous community members in the municipalities where it operates.

Jennifer Guenther, chief sustainability officer and head of investor relations and financial planning, emphasized the importance of trust, integrity, engagement, and action in preserving the company’s global business privileges. “Tronox embeds sustainability into all our business decisions, aligning it with our business strategy to create lasting value for all stakeholders,” she said.
