AM Green Partners with DP World to Transform India into a Global Hub for Green Molecules

AM Green Partners with DP World to Create Sustainable Global Supply Chain for Green Fuels and Chemicals

AM Green, a leader in the green hydrogen and ammonia production sector, has announced a strategic partnership with DP World, a global logistics leader, to build a sustainable supply chain aimed at facilitating the global movement of green fuels and chemicals. This collaboration marks a significant step toward advancing global decarbonization efforts by ensuring efficient exports of green ammonia, green methanol, and other sustainable fuels to key consumption markets.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between AM Green and DP World was signed in December 2024, and it outlines a comprehensive plan to develop vital infrastructure for the production, storage, and distribution of green fuels globally. The two companies will work together to enhance the infrastructure necessary to export 1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of green ammonia and 1 MTPA of green methanol, significantly supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Key Components of the AM Green and DP World Partnership

Under the MOU, AM Green and DP World will collaborate on several key initiatives to establish a robust and sustainable supply chain. These initiatives include:

  1. Port Infrastructure Development: AM Green’s Net-Zero Industrial Clusters will serve as key production hubs for green fuels. The partnership will focus on developing port infrastructure across these clusters to ensure seamless exports to global markets.
  2. Bunkering Infrastructure: The partnership will focus on building bunkering infrastructure for green ammonia and methanol across strategic locations, including Dubai, India, and Southeast Asia. This infrastructure will allow for the efficient storage and distribution of green fuels to international markets.
  3. Strategic Terminal Infrastructure: The partnership will also work on establishing strategic terminal infrastructure across critical regions, including the European Union, Far East, and UAE. These terminals will play a crucial role in ensuring a zero-carbon supply chain to support the transition to a low-carbon economy and fulfill the global demand for green fuels.

AM Green’s Vision for a Green Future

AM Green is dedicated to developing projects across India that leverage renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power to produce a range of sustainable fuels and chemicals, including Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), green ammonia, green hydrogen, chemicals, and biofuels. The company has set an ambitious goal of achieving a production capacity of 5 MTPA by 2030. This target aligns with India’s broader net-zero targets and contributes to global decarbonization goals.

AM Green has already taken a major step forward with its decision to invest in a 1 MTPA green ammonia plant in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, located on India’s eastern coast. This project marks a milestone in AM Green’s efforts to scale up the production of green ammonia, a key ingredient for sustainable energy solutions, and contribute to India’s renewable energy sector.

A Strategic Partnership with Global Impact

The collaboration between AM Green and DP World is set to create a world-class infrastructure to support the global distribution of green ammonia, green methanol, and other sustainable fuels. According to Mahesh Kolli, Founder of Greenko Group and AM Green, the company is committed to supporting India’s vision of becoming a green energy exporter. He said, “We are excited to partner with DP World to build a world-class infrastructure for the global movement of green molecules. This partnership will help us export green ammonia, green methanol, and other sustainable fuels, enhancing the global green supply chain and driving the shift to a low-carbon economy.”

DP World, a leader in global trade and logistics, is equally committed to sustainability. Yuvraj Narayan, Group Deputy CEO and CFO of DP World Group, emphasized the importance of the partnership in driving sustainable supply chains. “DP World aims to be essential to the future of global trade, ensuring everything it does has a long-lasting positive impact on economies and societies. By partnering with AM Green, we can leverage our expertise in logistics and infrastructure to facilitate the distribution of clean fuels and chemicals. This collaboration will play a pivotal role in enabling the low-carbon economy and advancing global sustainability goals.”

AM Green’s Commitment to Green Energy

AM Green is part of Greenko Group, one of India’s leading renewable energy conglomerates. With a proven track record in building, owning, and operating renewable assets, Greenko Group is also constructing mega closed-loop pumped storage assets that will provide round-the-clock power at competitive rates. AM Green was established as a platform for energy transition, with a mission to produce and scale sustainable fuels and chemicals, including green ammonia, green hydrogen, biofuels, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

The company’s goal of producing 5 MTPA of green ammonia by 2030 will directly support India’s net-zero targets. This production will also help fulfill global decarbonization goals, with output equivalent to 1 MTPA of green hydrogen. AM Green’s commitment to green hydrogen production will account for one-fifth of India’s target for green hydrogen production and 10% of Europe’s target for green hydrogen imports.
