PPG Introduces PPG STEELGUARD 951 Fire Protection Coating in the Americas

PPG (NYSE: PPG) has announced the launch of its PPG STEELGUARD® 951 epoxy intumescent fire protection coating in the Americas. This cutting-edge product is designed for advanced manufacturing facilities such as semiconductor plants, electric vehicle battery factories, data centers, and other commercial infrastructures. Following a successful rollout in Europe and the Middle East, PPG Steelguard 951 is now available across North and Latin America.

The coating provides up to four hours of fire protection by expanding from a thin, lightweight film into a thick, insulating foam, maintaining structural integrity, allowing more time for evacuation, and reducing damage to buildings and assets. It can deliver up to 3,500 microns of dry-film thickness in a single coat and cures quickly, ready for handling the next day. Its patented flexible epoxy technology ensures excellent durability, crack resistance during handling, and corrosion protection up to ISO 12944 C5 standards without a topcoat.

“We’re thrilled to introduce PPG Steelguard 951 to advanced manufacturing sectors in the U.S., Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Peru, and Colombia,” said Stuart Bradbury, PPG Business Development Manager, Fire Protection, Protective & Marine Coatings. “This solution provides up to four hours of fire protection, meets rigorous testing standards, and supports modern construction practices with its efficient application and durability.”

PPG’s global technical team provides expert guidance to ensure optimal application. The product’s Environmental Product Declarations reflect PPG’s commitment to sustainability.
