WACKER Showcases Sustainable Solutions at European Coatings Show 2025

WACKER, a global leader in specialty chemicals, is set to unveil an exciting range of product innovations at the European Coatings Show (ECS) 2025, held from March 25 to 27, 2025, in Nuremberg, Germany. With a 300-square-meter booth (Hall 1, Booth 1-206), WACKER will present its cutting-edge solutions for the coatings, adhesives, and building materials industries. The spotlight will be on sustainable products designed to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly solutions, improved safety, and enhanced performance.

A Commitment to Sustainability

Sustainability has become a crucial factor in the chemical industry, and WACKER has been at the forefront of driving innovative solutions that reduce the environmental footprint of its products. “Sustainability is no longer a trend, but a business imperative along the value chain,” emphasizes Peter Summo, President of WACKER’s Polymers division. The company is committed to helping customers implement future technologies that minimize CO2 emissions and conserve resources.

At ECS 2025, WACKER will showcase its sustainable offerings across three key areas: coatings, adhesives, and construction. The company’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in products such as its alpha-silane-crosslinking binders, hybrid polymers, and special dispersible polymer powders that enable the formulation of low-emission, environmentally friendly building materials.

Coatings: A New Era of Low-Emission Solutions

In the Coatings Zone, WACKER will present several new products designed to improve the performance and safety of coatings while reducing their environmental impact.

SILRES® HP 2000 LV

A highlight in the coatings section is the introduction of SILRES® HP 2000 LV, an improved version of the company’s successful hardener system for epoxy-polysiloxane topcoats. The new product contains significantly fewer volatile compounds, making it safer to process and apply. SILRES® HP 2000 LV offers an eco-friendly solution for formulating high-performance metal coatings with a reduced environmental impact.

VINNOL® H 15/45 M Renewable Energy

WACKER will also present VINNOL® H 15/45 M Renewable Energy, a version of its VINNOL® product with a reduced carbon footprint. This innovative binder provides excellent adhesion to metal surfaces, PVC, and PET, while being virtually odorless and tasteless. Its excellent resistance to water and chemicals makes it ideal for applications such as food and pharmaceutical packaging. By incorporating renewable energy into its production process, VINNOL® H 15/45 M contributes to WACKER’s sustainability goals.

Adhesives: Innovations in Crosslinking and Curing

The Adhesives Zone at ECS will feature several innovative products that offer enhanced performance, safety, and sustainability.

GENIOSIL® STP-E 140 & GENIOSIL® STP-E 340

WACKER will showcase two new GENIOSIL® STP-E products based on the company’s advanced alpha³ technology. These silane-terminated polyethers—GENIOSIL® STP-E 140 and GENIOSIL® STP-E 340—combine the advantages of both alpha and gamma-silane-crosslinking polymers. These products do not require a tin catalyst for curing, which is a major improvement for consumer safety. They are ideal for formulating tin-free adhesives that exhibit high elasticity, low modulus, and excellent elastic recovery.

The products are particularly useful in the construction sector, where low-modulus sealants are in high demand. Adhesives and sealants formulated with GENIOSIL® STP-E 140 and GENIOSIL® STP-E 340 exhibit fast curing and creep resistance. Moreover, they are compatible with solvent- and plasticizer-free formulations, making them more eco-friendly.

ELASTOSIL® eco 7770 P

Another key product is the ELASTOSIL® eco 7770 P, a neutral-curing silicone sealant designed for construction and sanitary applications. This product is ideal for use with natural stone and cures to form a low-modulus elastomer with high elastic recovery. It adheres to most materials commonly used in the construction industry without the need for priming.

What makes ELASTOSIL® eco 7770 P stand out is its low-emission classification, as per the German Association for the Control of Emissions in Products for Flooring Installation (GEV). Additionally, the sealant is resistant to mold and mildew, making it an excellent choice for high-humidity environments. Formulated with biomethanol, it provides a sustainable solution that reduces the environmental impact of its production process.

Construction: Polymer Solutions for Sustainable Building

In the Construction Zone, WACKER will present products designed to support the construction industry’s transition to sustainable building materials.

Dispersible Polymer Powders for Tile Adhesives

One of the main challenges in the cement industry is ensuring that products formulated with Portland composite cements (CEM II) meet the required performance standards. WACKER’s research has shown that tile adhesives made with CEM II cement can achieve the necessary tensile adhesion strength when combined with special polymer binders.

At ECS 2025, WACKER will showcase VINNAPAS® 8118 E, VINNAPAS® 8620 E, and VINNAPAS® 7220 E—dispersible polymer powders that are designed to enhance the performance of tile adhesives. These binders help to meet the challenges posed by the use of CEM II cement while contributing to a reduced environmental impact.

Additional Product Highlights: Innovation Across Industries

Beyond the main product categories, WACKER will also highlight several other cutting-edge solutions.

VINNOL® L6868

For formulators working with coatings and printing inks, VINNOL® L6868 offers a solution for addressing challenges related to flow, intercoat adhesion, and flexibility in UV-curing systems. Its very low molecular weight makes it ideal for applications in printing inks, plastic coatings, and wood coatings.

SILRES® BS 6920

WACKER’s SILRES® BS 6920 is a silane-based binder used in wear-resistant coatings for sealing concrete and flowing-screed floors. This solvent-free formulation provides varying degrees of hardness and elasticity, making it ideal for treating floors in need of repair.

SREP® Silicone Resin Emulsion Paints

WACKER’s SREP® (Silicone Resin Emulsion Paints) ensure high water-vapor permeability and extremely low water absorption, protecting building exteriors from weathering and dirt accumulation. This innovative product helps preserve the longevity and value of structures by enhancing their resistance to environmental factors.

Waterproofing Membranes and Cement Protection

WACKER will also feature solutions for waterproofing membranes, using VINNAPAS® polymer dispersions and dispersible polymer powders. These products are ideal for formulating both one-component, ready-to-use pasty waterproofing membranes and cementitious systems. Additionally, WACKER’s cement protection products, such as silanes and siloxanes, enhance water repellency while maintaining excellent resistance to physical and chemical influences.

Encapsulated Insect Repellents

WACKER’s CAVAMAX® and CAVASOL® cyclodextrins offer a unique solution for encapsulating essential oils in waterborne paints and coatings, providing long-lasting insect repellent effects. This product offers a new dimension of functionality for coatings used in outdoor applications.

Conclusion: Paving the Way for Sustainable Innovation

WACKER’s presence at ECS 2025 highlights its commitment to providing innovative, sustainable solutions for the coatings, adhesives, and construction industries. With a focus on reducing environmental impact, enhancing safety, and improving performance, WACKER’s new product offerings pave the way for a more sustainable future in specialty chemicals.

Whether you’re interested in low-emission coatings, tin-free adhesives, or polymer binders for the construction industry, WACKER’s latest innovations at ECS 2025 demonstrate how the company is leading the charge toward a greener, more sustainable industry.
