Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd.’s High Performance Plastics Company, led by President Ikusuke Shimizu, has initiated patent infringement lawsuits in Germany and Korea concerning its PVB interlayer technologies. The legal actions target Kuraray Europe GmbH and Kuraray Korea Ltd., subsidiaries of Kuraray Co., Ltd., citing infringements on Sekisui’s European patents EP ’237, EP ’247, EP ’888, and EP ’222.
In Germany, Sekisui has filed cases in the Munich I (docket Nos. 7 O 12401/24, 7 O 12476/24, and 7 O 12477/24) and Mannheim (docket No. 2 O 92/24) District Courts. These cases relate to sound control, shrinkage, and glossiness properties of PVB interlayers, seeking injunctions and liability judgments against the manufacture and sale of Kuraray’s “‘Trosifol’ The Wedge Acoustic” and “‘Trosifol’ The Wedge Acoustic Shadeband” products.
In Korea, Sekisui has also filed suit in the Seoul Central District Court, requesting an injunction and damages against the production and sale of these sound insulation products by Kuraray Korea.
