PPG has announced the completion of significant upgrades at its Yen Phong industrial coatings plant in Bắc Ninh province, Vietnam, expanding the facility’s capacity. The enhancements include a new production line specifically for PPG AQUACRON™ waterborne decorative and functional coatings, tailored for the consumer electronics industry. Additionally, the plant now features advanced testing equipment and automated spray booths.
With the facility now operating six production lines, PPG aims to reduce turnaround times, accelerate the development of coatings, and improve access to technical and customer support in the region. This investment reflects PPG’s commitment to Southeast Asia and addresses the rising demand for sustainable products among multinational consumer electronics brands in the area.
“As a trusted supplier to leading global consumer electronics OEMs, PPG provides next-generation solutions that not only enhance the durability, design, and functionality of their products but also help these industry partners reduce their carbon footprints with coatings made with little to no solvents,” said Irene Tasi, PPG Senior Vice President, Industrial Coatings.
The facility also produces PPG SPECTRACRON™ liquid coatings for transportation, PPG DURANAR™ coil and extrusion coatings for architectural and building products, and RAYCRON™ UV-curable coatings for electronic materials.
“This investment marks another significant step in our commitment to creating innovative, sustainable products that protect and enhance communities worldwide,” said Le Dong Lam, PPG General Manager, Southeast Asia, Industrial Coatings, and Country Manager for Vietnam.
Customers in the region can also benefit from the PPG SECURE LAUNCH EXCELLENCE™ program, which integrates new coating technologies and colors into production lines, ensuring that new solutions meet customer specifications from the first application.
PPG’s focus on sustainably advantaged products is reflected in its growing portfolio of waterborne, powder, and energy-curable coatings. The company has set a goal to achieve 50% of its sales from sustainably advantaged products by 2030.
