The ANREALAGE collection embraces the theme of “visualizing the invisible power of wind.” This concept illustrates how wind generates waves on water surfaces, leading to evaporation, cloud formation, and precipitation, all essential for maintaining the Earth’s water cycle. The interplay between wind and water is crucial for the environment.
In line with this vision, Kyocera’s FOREARTH printing technology, which reduces water usage by 99.98%, was combined with MURON recycled yarn sourced from discarded fishing nets. This collaboration has resulted in a unique and sustainable fabric, showcased in the ANREALAGE collection.
MURON Recycled Fishing Net Yarn
Addressing the global issue of marine plastic pollution, the recycling of discarded fishing nets and gear has gained significant attention. A survey conducted by the Ministry of the Environment in fiscal year 2016 revealed that abandoned fishing nets and ropes constituted nearly 40% of the plastic litter found along Japan’s shores. MURON is produced entirely from recycled waste fishing nets collected in Japan.
Comment from ANREALAGE Designer Kunihiko Morinaga
“We believe that utilizing FOREARTH to print on fabric made from waste fishing nets represents a sustainable approach to water conservation. By transforming discarded fishing nets into fibers, we aim to protect the global environment and our water resources. I see a strong connection between the social impact of FOREARTH, which significantly minimizes water usage, and textiles crafted from recycled fishing nets. Through our FOREARTH sustainable inkjet textile printer, we strive to tackle challenges such as water pollution and high CO2 emissions in the textile printing industry.”
