GC and Chulalongkorn University Unveil Fun Science Lab Classroom in Rayong Province

The “Fun Science Lab” at Ban Nong Fab School in Rayong Province has officially opened, aiming to enhance Active Learning in science through hands-on activities and creative development for students. The state-of-the-art classroom features modern equipment, including a 3D printer and a chemistry lab, enabling students to explore chemicals in everyday life and innovate without constraints. This initiative is a collaboration between PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC) and the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University. The opening ceremony was attended by Ms. Salariwan Thapthawee, Deputy Governor of Rayong Province, and Ms. Chochaba Chuenban, Director of Rayong Primary Educational Service Area Office 1.

Mr. Tossaporn Boonyapipat, President of PTT Global Chemical, explained that the development of the Fun Science Lab builds on their previous collaboration in 2023, using part of the funds from that project to create this new learning resource for Ban Nong Fab School and other local schools.

Designed to foster science education through Active Learning, the Fun Science Lab emphasizes hands-on experience and creative exploration. The goal is to inspire students to develop their scientific knowledge and pursue careers in science, a field with growing demand in the region.

The project’s success is attributed to the joint efforts of the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, GC Group companies, and the support of GC volunteer employees who helped design the learning activities. Special thanks were extended to Phra Khru Rattanakornwisut, the abbot of Wat Nong Fab, for allowing the use of temple grounds for the classroom’s construction.

Associate Professor Dr. Prompong Pienpinijtham, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, emphasized the Faculty’s commitment to making the Fun Science Lab a valuable educational resource. The lab includes modern tools like 3D printers and chemical experiment kits, alongside over 50 science experiment sets, human body models, astronomical models, and microscopes for primary school use. The Faculty hopes the lab will enhance students’ skills and foster sustainable community development in the future.
