DuraPlas Wins Court Ruling Supporting PolarPad® Innovation

DuraPlas Secures Court Ruling Supporting PolarPad® Innovation and Market Competition

DuraPlas, a recognized leader in advanced plastic manufacturing and thermal management solutions, has announced a significant legal development following a recent federal court ruling that preserves the company’s ability to challenge certain patent claims while ensuring continued customer access to its widely used PolarPad® products.

The ruling marks an important step in an ongoing legal dispute involving DiversiTech and confirms that Version 2 of the PolarPad® product line remains unaffected by the litigation currently underway. As a result, customers can continue to purchase and use the product without interruption. According to the company, more than 93 percent of PolarPad® products currently in the market are based on the updated Version 2 design, meaning the vast majority of customers will see no impact from the legal proceedings.

DuraPlas stated that the court’s decision ensures the company can continue supporting customers with reliable access to its PolarPad® and PolarPan® product lines while maintaining its focus on innovation and fair market practices.

Paul Phillips, President of DuraPlas, welcomed the ruling and emphasized its importance for both the company and the broader industry.

“The court’s decision ensures our customers have uninterrupted access to PolarPad® and PolarPan® products while we continue driving innovation and protecting fair competition,” Phillips said. “This ruling is an important victory in our ongoing effort to ensure markets remain open and competitive, delivering choice, reliable supply, and high-quality products to our customers.”

Phillips added that the company views the case as part of a larger commitment to defending fair business practices within the industry.

“Defending free and fair competition is a cause worth pursuing,” he continued. “At DuraPlas, we are committed to fostering a transparent and equitable market that strengthens the industry and drives long-term innovation.”

In addition to protecting the current PolarPad® product line, the court also addressed a key element of DuraPlas’ broader legal challenge. The judge largely denied DiversiTech’s motion to dismiss DuraPlas’ antitrust claims, allowing those claims to proceed through the legal process. This development enables DuraPlas to continue pursuing its case that certain exclusivity arrangements may restrict competition within the market.

By allowing these claims to move forward, the ruling opens the door for further examination of the competitive dynamics within the thermal equipment and accessories sector. DuraPlas has argued that certain practices could limit options for customers and reduce opportunities for innovation among manufacturers.

As part of its ongoing legal strategy, DuraPlas has also requested permission from the court to submit an amended complaint. The updated filing would include additional allegations related to anticompetitive conduct, further outlining the company’s concerns regarding the impact of certain business arrangements on market competition.

Despite the ongoing litigation, DuraPlas emphasized that its operational focus remains unchanged. The company continues to prioritize product development, supply chain reliability, and customer service while advancing new technologies designed to improve performance and efficiency in thermal management applications.

PolarPad® and PolarPan® products are widely used to support HVAC and refrigeration equipment by providing durable, stable mounting surfaces that help protect systems and maintain proper airflow. These products play an important role in equipment installation and long-term performance, making consistent availability critical for contractors, distributors, and end users.

DuraPlas noted that the continued availability of Version 2 PolarPad® products ensures contractors and distributors can move forward with projects confidently, without disruption to supply or installation processes.

The company also reaffirmed its long-term commitment to innovation in plastic manufacturing and thermal management solutions. By investing in research, engineering, and product improvement, DuraPlas aims to provide solutions that enhance reliability, durability, and performance for customers across the HVAC and refrigeration industries.
