DuPont™ FilmTec™ Membranes Win 2024 Sustainability Technology Award

DuPont (NYSE: DD) announced that its FilmTec™ Nanofiltration (NF) membrane portfolio has been awarded the 2024 Sustainable Technology of the Year at the Global Sustainability & ESG Awards, hosted by Sustainability LIVE. This recognition highlights technologies that promote sustainable practices and the development of greener solutions.

Nanofiltration, a low-energy water purification technology, is instrumental in addressing several global sustainability challenges, such as improving access to drinking water, supporting industrial water reuse, lithium extraction, seawater brine recovery, and concentrating milk into valuable protein forms.

Jeroen Bloemhard, Vice President and General Manager of DuPont Water Solutions, expressed pride in receiving the award, emphasizing that the FilmTec™ NF membranes contribute to sustainable development goals such as clean water, zero hunger, and climate action. “Nanofiltration technology improves the human condition by advancing these goals,” he said.

NF membranes are used to separate solutes in liquid feeds, often based on their ionic charge differences. Beyond water purification, they are also valuable for recovering and concentrating solutes in industries like mining, chemical processing, microelectronics, and dairy production.

Gary Gu, Global Technology Leader at DuPont Water Solutions, emphasized that the intersection of innovation and sustainability is where companies can make the greatest societal impact. He noted that DuPont’s continuous R&D efforts have made their NF products more durable and energy-efficient, supporting customers on their sustainability journeys.

DuPont’s broad portfolio of water treatment technologies, including reverse osmosis, ion exchange, ultrafiltration, and membrane bioreactors, addresses the needs of water treatment plants, seawater desalination, and industrial water users. The company is also developing solutions to balance global water and energy demands, with products supporting electricity, lithium, and green hydrogen production.
