C-BATT Aims to Transform the Battery Industry with Carbon Mined in America

C-BATT, a collaboration between X-BATT and CONSOL Innovations—a subsidiary of CONSOL Energy Inc.—has embarked on the next stage of its mission to advance and commercialize next-generation battery anode materials. By integrating X-BATT’s cutting-edge battery technology with CONSOL Innovations’ American-sourced carbon resources, C-BATT is preparing to bring its innovative silicon-carbon composite battery material, Obsidia, to the market. This advanced material is designed to enhance energy density, fast-charging capabilities, and cycle life, while addressing the common issue of swelling in silicon-based batteries.

Bill Easter, CEO of C-BATT, commented, “We are translating years of breakthroughs in battery technology into practical solutions for the market. The collaboration between X-BATT and CONSOL Innovations elevates our technology and meets the increasing demand for American-made, American-mined lithium-ion batteries.”

This joint venture exemplifies the fusion of innovation and sustainability, poised to revolutionize energy storage and battery technology.

Over the past year, C-BATT has made substantial progress in product development through advances in material science and cell-level optimization. The team plans to submit their specifications for independent qualification to a third-party lab within the next year.

Additionally, C-BATT is pleased to announce the appointment of new key team members. Dr. James Fleetwood will join as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and Josh McConkey will assume the role of Director of Commercialization. Their expertise will drive the next phase of development for Obsidia.

Josh McConkey expressed enthusiasm about the progress made, stating, “We are thrilled with the advancements since C-BATT’s inception and look forward to expanding our product development as we move closer to commercializing our innovative Obsidia material.
