Berry Global Group, Inc. (NYSE: BERY), a global leader in packaging, collaborated with Wells Enterprises, Inc., a U.S.-based ice cream manufacturer, to expand the Blue Bunny Twist Cones line into single-serve, freezer-grade Twist pints. These innovative pints are now available nationwide at major U.S. retailers like Walmart, Kroger, Food Lion, Albertson’s, Safeway, and Publix.
Crafted from widely recyclable polypropylene (PP) with a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) lid, the new Twist pints enhance the recyclability of traditional ice cream packaging, typically composed of plastic-lined paperboard. Designed for nestability, they optimize storage and transportation efficiency, reducing wasted space and promoting sustainable supply chain practices.
Julee Zugel, Director of Strategic Sourcing at Wells, emphasized Berry’s role as a crucial partner in developing sustainable packaging solutions: “Berry understands our need for innovative, sustainable packaging and has collaborated closely with us in this endeavor. Their proactive engagement and innovative approach exemplify an ideal partnership.”
Similar to Berry’s custom 48-ounce PP containers for Blue Bunny’s scoopable ice cream line, these translucent Twist pints showcase the layered contents inside. Available in seven enticing flavors like Chocolate Vanilla, Strawberries & Cream, Cookies & Cream, Candy Bar, Mint Chocolate, Blu’s Birthday Cake, and Cherry Chocolate, these pints offer consumers a delightful experience.
Matt Chase, Director of Sales – National Accounts at Berry Global, highlighted the importance of such partnerships in meeting evolving sustainability goals: “Access to innovative, recyclable packaging is increasingly vital for our customers as they navigate changing sustainability requirements. Through strong value-chain partnerships like this, we are designing products that promote cleaner communities for future generations, without compromising convenience or shelf appeal.
