Air Liquide is set to invest €50 million in a new hydrogen packaging and delivery supply chain along the Seine Axis, aimed at accelerating low-carbon mobility. This initiative is part of Air Liquide’s broader efforts to expand its low-carbon hydrogen ecosystem in the Normandy industrial basin. The supply chain will be fueled by renewable hydrogen from the Air Liquide Normand’Hy electrolyzer, currently under construction with a 200 MW capacity.
The investment is designed to support the growing hydrogen vehicle market in the region, which includes a variety of mobility solutions such as hydrogen taxis, light utility vehicle fleets, and hydrogen-powered buses and trucks. Air Liquide will dedicate approximately a quarter of its electrolyzer’s capacity to supply renewable hydrogen for these vehicles, representing the hydrogen needs of 500 trucks or 10,000 light vehicles.
Additionally, the remaining three-quarters of the electrolyzer’s production will serve industrial clients, including the TotalEnergies refinery in Gonfreville. Air Liquide has already established a hydrogen network in Normandy with production units at the refinery and in Port-Jérôme, where it has been implementing its CO₂ capture solution since 2015.
Emilie Mouren-Renouard, a member of Air Liquide’s Executive Committee overseeing European operations, emphasized the significance of this investment in advancing sustainable mobility and contributing to the decarbonization of both industry and transportation.
