Eastman Collaborates with Tri-Cities Airport to Facilitate Plastic Waste Collection

Eastman, a global leader in specialty materials, and Tri-Cities Airport, serving the Tri-Cities, Tennessee area, have joined forces to enhance plastic waste collection efforts. Together, they have strategically positioned recycling bins throughout the airport to facilitate the easy disposal of plastic bottles and food containers, promoting responsible recycling habits. The collected plastic will be processed at Eastman’s state-of-the-art mixed plastics processing facility, part of the world’s largest material-to-material recycling plant located at its manufacturing site in Kingsport, Tennessee.

“We are pleased to announce this local partnership as part of our ongoing commitment to combat the plastic waste challenge,” said Brad Lich, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Eastman. “This collaboration underscores our shared vision for a sustainable future, where plastic waste is valued as a resource that can be transformed into new products. It exemplifies how local businesses can unite to advance sustainability and preserve the beauty of our region.”

This initiative is one of several undertaken by Eastman to support the circular economy and enhance sustainability in the region.

“At Tri-Cities Airport, we prioritize sustainability and are thrilled to collaborate with Eastman on this significant recycling initiative,” said Gene Cossey, President and CEO of the Tri-Cities Airport Authority. “By offering convenient recycling options for our travelers, we promote responsible practices within our community and contribute to innovative solutions developed locally.”
