Brenntag, the global leader in chemicals and ingredients distribution, has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with American global food corporation Cargill, Inc., for EpiCor postbiotic. This agreement covers most parts of Europe, including the UK, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, BeNeLux, the DACH region, CEE including the Baltics and Ukraine, as well as Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland.
EpiCor is a postbiotic ingredient derived from the proprietary fermentation of baker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). The end product is a nutritious whole food containing metabolites such as proteins, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, polyphenols, fibers, polysaccharides, and other nutrients.
EpiCor also adheres to the newly released consensus definition of a postbiotic by the International Scientific Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISAPP). It is a preparation of inanimate microorganisms and components that may support immune and gut health functions, as substantiated in over a dozen published studies.
Frank Haven, President of Brenntag Specialties Nutrition EMEA, said: “We are delighted to expand our alliance with Cargill on an exclusive basis for EpiCor, a leading postbiotic nutrition and dietary product. To the crucial and rapidly growing Nutritional Health sector, we bring the knowledge, infrastructure, and creative innovation capabilities of Brenntag’s Food and Nutrition team, along with Cargill’s overarching expertise.”
Willem van Dam, Director of Industry Market Management Brenntag Specialties Nutrition EMEA, added: “We look forward to developing and broadening relationships with our existing and new customers with this new offering of EpiCor. This will meet the current needs of our customers, address new product requirements, and spur new product development projects.
