LOTTE Chemical Demonstrates Commitment to Community Welfare: Donates Rice to Songpa-gu Office
In a heartwarming gesture to mark Family Month in May, LOTTE Chemical stepped up its commitment to social responsibility by donating approximately 2,000 bags of rice, each weighing 10 kilograms, to the Songpa-gu Office. The donation ceremony, held on the 7th of last month, brought together LOTTE Chemical President & CEO Lee Hun Ki and Songpa-gu Mayor Seo Kang Seok in a display of solidarity and support for the local community.
This noble initiative, dubbed “Companion Rice,” was part of Songpa-gu Office’s endeavor to assist vulnerable demographics, including the elderly living alone, single-parent families, and social welfare institutions within the district. The event, aimed at fostering a culture of compassion and care, saw the enthusiastic participation of key figures from LOTTE Chemical and Songpa-gu Office.
LOTTE Chemical’s involvement in the “Companion Rice” donation event is not a standalone effort but a continuation of its ongoing commitment to social welfare. Since 2021, the company has been steadfastly organizing similar initiatives, reflecting its ethos of sharing warmth and support with those in need within its community.
Expressing his dedication to this cause, LOTTE Chemical President & CEO Lee Hun Ki emphasized the company’s enduring commitment to serving as a responsible corporate citizen. He pledged to continue and expand their support activities, reinforcing their role in assisting neighbors facing challenging circumstances.
In addition to the donation to Songpa-gu Office, LOTTE Chemical extended its philanthropic efforts by contributing 1,500 bags of rice, sourced from the vicinity of its Daesan Plant, to Chungnam National University and KAIST. This donation, part of the “Thousand Won Breakfast” project, underscores the company’s broader commitment to addressing food insecurity and promoting educational welfare in the region.
