INEOS Oxide and LyondellBasell (LYB) have announced the completion of the sale of LYB’s Ethylene Oxide & Derivatives (EO&D) business, including its production facilities in Bayport, Texas, to INEOS.
Tobias Hannemann, CEO of INEOS Oxide, stated, “We are delighted to finalize this strategic acquisition in the U.S. As a leading producer in Europe, this significant move extends our Ethylene Oxide & Derivatives business into the world’s largest market. It also enhances our existing Ethanolamines production facility in Plaquemine, Louisiana.”
“The Bayport site offers land for expansion, aligning perfectly with INEOS’ growth aspirations. It is an excellent location to develop our third-party business, enabling customers to co-locate and integrate into our existing Ethylene Oxide & Derivatives platform. We are excited to integrate the business, site, and team of highly professional and motivated individuals into the global INEOS group.”
The Bayport EO&D business specializes in high-purity ethylene oxide and associated derivatives. Its performance and market reputation are bolstered by access to cost-effective feedstocks and efficient logistics networks.
Peter Vanacker, CEO of LyondellBasell, commented, “This divestiture of the EO&D business aligns with our company strategy and allows us to focus on strengthening our core operations. We are confident that the EO&D team will continue to excel under INEOS ownership, and we remain committed to ensuring a smooth transition.”
The transaction closure follows the completion of scheduled maintenance at the Bayport facility and the fulfillment of regulatory and customary closing conditions.
