Brenntag, the global leader in chemical and ingredient distribution, has announced the acquisition of PIC Química e Farmacêutica Ltda. (PIC) and PharmaSpecial Especialidades Químicas e Farmacêuticas Ltda. (PharmaSpecial) in Brazil. This move significantly enhances Brenntag’s presence in the expanding Life Science market in Brazil. Both PIC and PharmaSpecial are well-established, family-owned distributors specializing in chemicals for the Pharma, Personal Care, and other Life Science sectors.

The acquisition will also help Brenntag expand its network of Application & Innovation Centers and enter the soft gel capsule market. Founded in 1991 and based in Itapevi, Brazil, PIC and PharmaSpecial together generated sales of approximately 11 million EUR in 2023. Financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed, with the deal expected to close in Q4 2024, pending regulatory approvals.
